Clinical Supervisor
Not Accepting New Clients
Hi there! I’m Tara, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and I’m excited to be a part of your journey toward healing. Currently, I work as an elementary school social worker within the Department of Education, where my focus is on helping children navigate their emotions and overcome challenges. I strive to create a warm and supportive environment where kids feel safe to express themselves and explore their feelings. In addition to my work at the elementary school, I also serve as a clinical supervisor at KCS Mental Health Clinic, where I support and guide other clinicians in their professional development and ensure quality care for our clients.
Throughout my career, I’ve gained experience in various settings, including mental health clinics, psychiatric emergency rooms, correctional facilities, and non-profit agencies. This diverse background allows me to connect with people of all ages, from young children to adults. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a practical approach that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns. For example, we might work together to transform anxious thoughts about school into positive affirmations, empowering kids to face their day with confidence.
I specialize in working with young adults facing high-functioning depression and anxiety. As a 1.5-generation Korean American, I’m particularly passionate about breaking the stigma surrounding mental health in Asian American communities, believing that open conversations and education are key to helping families feel empowered to seek support and build resilience together.
In addition to my clinical work, I have experience as a community organizer, participating in rallies for immigrants’ rights and advocating for the Dream Act & DACA in Albany. I’m proud to be a social worker who not only provides direct care but also stands strong as an advocate for my clients' rights and well-being, both individually and within the broader community.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my church community and connecting with my family and friends. These moments of togetherness are important to me, as they provide balance and strength in my own life, just as I hope to offer support and strength to those I work with.
I look forward to the opportunity to support you on this journey!
